  • Preparing for my stay in the Czech Republic

Ian&#39s JournalSome notes on my preparations for going to the Czech Republic.

Well, I did a reasonable amount of practical research to prepare myself for my 6 weeks in the Czech Republic. I got an e-book that is an extremely practical guide to living and working there called The Complete Guide to Living, Working & Investing in the Czech Republic. This book is not for the faint of heart because there are some scary facts about the country in the book.

One of the things it mentions is that it can be very hard to get a cheap and reasonable apartment there. Well, I am finding this to be true so far. I have an apartment that is a 25 minute walk from my school supposedly reserved. However, the landlord is having difficulty giving me information to give him a deposit to secure it. Another apartment owner has sent me their bank information and I may end up getting an apartment with them. This apartment is a 30 minute bus ride from my school which is why I am trying to get the closer apartment.

Well, I hope this apartment situation works out well for me. I have to have a solid backup plan in place if it doesn't. If the apartment does work out though I will be sure to be the most appreciative tenant these people have ever had to help encourage good landlord practices there. Some of the horror stories in that book would make many a person give up on even going to the country.
